In Florida, breath tests are the most common method used to measure the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of drivers who are suspected of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Florida law enforcement officers use a tool called the Intoxilyzer 8000 to determine BAC levels. As shown in the figure below, the number of breath tests administered in Florida has decreased steadily since 2011, with 2019 representing the lone exception to this trend. The legal BAC level in Florida is 0.08, which means that any test reading above this number represents legal impairment.
